An Exciting Opportunity With The British Canoeing Talent ID Academy
For the last 5 years British Canoeing has worked in partnership with Rushcliffe School offering pupils the opportunity to try out for a fast track Talent Identification Academy. The Academy is designed to highlight those pupils with the potential to be successful in the sport of the Canoe Slalom and provide them with the opportunity to develop and hopefully at some point in the future join the long list of successful Team GB Olympic medallists including those from Rio 2016.
The programme has enjoyed incredible success over the last 5 years, with 4 National Junior Championship titles, 1 National Junior Champion, 1 English National Champion and 1 GB Junior Team reserve.
Pupils in year 7 will be offered the chance to try out for the Academy this year. Testing will commence in school on Thursday 29th Sept and 6th Oct. Pupils will be notified of results via letter and around 25-35 pupils will be invited back to further evening testing throughout the week of Oct 17th and for 1 full day of testing on Oct 27th. A welcome evening will be hosted on Nov 7th at the British Canoeing offices for those pupils successful in gaining a place on the squad.
Pupils will be given more information during their school assemblies.
